Homework Week 18 Dec 16th to Dec 20th

• For the next 3 weeks, students will not use their Treasure's books regularly. We will study specific authors. The week we will focus on James Marshall. No spelling city until 2014.

• 12/18 Winter Gift Exchange:
If you are a boy, you bring a gift for a boy. If you are a girl you bring a gift for a girl. The suggested value is $10. Please send your wrapped gift by 12/17.

• 12/18 Class Winter Holiday Party

• 12/19 MWE Winter Holiday Program10:30 am in the MPR

• 12/23 - 1/10 Winter Break

• 1/17 - Australian Celebration. Please volunteer on the first Friday that we return to school. See attached sheet.

• 1/21 - Australian Report Due. [Choose an Australian marsupial that interests you such as the koala, red wombat , wallaby or? What does it eat? What kind of environment does it live in? What are its habits? Write about what you have learned OR Visit the zoo in the Australia section. Write about the Australian animals that you observed and tell about the visit]

• Winter Break Homework  - Learn those basic addition& subtraction facts! Take Flat Stanley home and write about the places he visited and activities he did with you! If you go anywhere, bring or send a postcard to our class c/o Mt. Washington School, 3981 San Rafael Ave., L.A., CA 90065

• Remember to read every day and keep a record of the minutes read on your reading calendar. Read your AR books and be ready to take AR tests.

Homework Week 17 Dec 9th to Dec 13th

Thank you to all the parents who volunteered to help create the Gingerbread houses! They turned out so nice.

• Knott's Berry Farm Field Trip 12/13 :
Please have students wear their class T-Shirts - They can wear a long sleeve or Turtle Neck under it if it is cold. Bring a sack lunch and separate snack.

• For a holiday project, students need to bring empty shoeboxes or small box lid. You can go to Payless Shoes for free boxes.

• 12/17 Gift Exchange:

Homework During Thanksgiving Break

1. Take Flat Stanley with you this week. Write a journal of your journey with him. Take photos and share. Have good time!

2. Practice your addition and subtraction facts using flash cards so you know them automatically.

3. Read AR (Accelerated Reader) books and be ready to take tests when you return on Monday, December 2nd.

4. Remember to bring your assigned ingredients for our gingerbread project. We still need lots of parents help to do this. If we don't have enough parents to help, we will not make individual houses to take home.

5. Remember to do your Reflections project! It is due Monday Dec. 2nd.

November 22nd - Egypt Celebration 
 We need volunteers! Please send egg cartons for an activity.

November 22nd - Egypt Reports Due (date has been moved up) Take a trip to the library and find a non-fiction book book about an aspect of Egyptian culture. Write about what you have learned. OR visit LACMA to see their Egyptian exhibit. Write what you have learned.
November 25th - 29th - Thanksgiving Break
December 2nd - Reflections Entry Due - This is MANDATORY for all 2nd Graders
December 13th - Knott's Berry Farm Trip. We are asking for a $17 donation from all students. 
We will spend another week on the story "African American Inventors". Sorry that spellingcity.com did not include the list words last week.
