Week 16 (12/7/2015 - 12/11/2015)

Dates to keep in mind:

  • 12/7 - 4th Young Author Report Due (CLICK HERE to see the Young Author's Report Schedule).  Read about a Middle Eastern holiday (Ramadan, Eid, Rosh Hashanah, Hanukkah, etc.).  Write to compare and contrast this holiday with another holiday celebrated in your family.
  • 12/8-12/9 - Book Fair
  • 12/14 - Winter Program times (9:00 am, 11:00am, 1:00 pm) - We are performing at all time slots but plan accordingly because the MPR can get crowded.
  • 12/17 - End of class party from 11-12 (please provide a lunch for your child that day as the food party will not be enough to fill them up).
  • 12/18 - 8:10-4:30 Knott's Berry Farm Trip.  We will return to school late on Friday.  Please plan to pick up your child later than usual on this last day before Winter Break. 
There is a spelling and reading test this week on Friday, 12/11/2015.  There will also be a Math Module test on the same day.

Week 11 (10/26/15 - 10/30/2015)

Class Updates:
  • There is a spelling test this week.
  • Halloween Parade is this Friday @1:15 pm.  Bring your clothes/costume in a large shopping bag.  Students will change after lunch in our classrooms.  Parents can help their child dress at 1:00 in the classroom.

Dates to keep in mind:

  • 10/30 - Halloween Parade at 1:15 pm
  • 11/6 - Native-American Celebration
  • 10/19 - 3rd Young Author Report Due (CLICK HERE to see the Young Author's Report Schedule).  Read about a Native American folktale or legend.  Rewrite the story in your own words.  Make a stick puppet to use when you retell the story to the class.  Practice telling the story at home before you share it at school.  If any materials are needed, please tell your teacher ahead of time.

PICTURE DAY is this Thursday (10/8). 

There will be a spelling test and reading test this week.

African-American report is DUE on October 19, 2015.   Read about an African-American person who has made a difference.  This person could be an activist, inventor, artist, politician, etc.  Share in writing what you have learned about the person and tell why he/she is important.  AND/OR Visit the California African Museum www.caam.ca.gov.  Write about your experience.

Thank you parents for volunteering at the L.A. County Fair field trip.

We raised $465 at our Canoe House fundraiser for future trips/buses.  Our next fundraiser is on October 22, 2015 @ Central Park in Pasadena.  Be sure to save the date!

It was nice to see all of you at Pancake Breakfast!  Thank you so much for attending.
