Week 7 (9/28/15 - 10/2/2015)

Class Notes:


There is spelling homework this week.

Be sure to turn in your September reading calendar. It is part of your child's grade.  If you need the September calendar, you can access it by CLICKING HERE.

We need an emergency kit for every child.  Send yours in ASAP.

Thank you parents for volunteering at the L.A. County Fair field trip.

We raised $465 at our Canoe House fundraiser for future trips/buses.  Our next fundraiser is on October 22, 2015 @ Central Park in Pasadena.  Be sure to save the date!

It was nice to see all of you at Pancake Breakfast!  Thank you so much for attending.

Start on your African-American report. (Read about an African-American person who has made a difference.  This person could be an activist, inventor, artist, politician, etc.  Share in writing what you have learned about the person and tell why he/she is important.  AND/OR Visit the California African Museum www.caam.ca.gov.  Write about your experience.)  REPORT IS DUE on October 19, 2015.

Week 6 (9/21/2015 - 9/25/2015)

Class Updates:

  • No spelling or reading test this week.
  • Monday (9/21) - 1st Young Author report is due.
  • Thursday (9/23) class field trip to the LA County Fair..
  • If you haven't turned in any of the following, please do so ASAP:
  1. forms
  2. trip slips
  3. white t-shirt
  4. $8 for the LA County Fair
  5. $3.50 for the recorder
  6. supplies

Dates to keep in mind:

  • 9/21 - 1st Young Author Report Due (CLICK HERE to see the Young Author's Report Schedule)
  • 9/23 - NO SCHOOL (Yom Kippur)
  • 9/24 - FIELD TRIP - LA County fair.  Children should wear walking shoes & be sure to use lots of sunscreen (maybe even bring a hat).  Also please bring extra snacks for before and after the bus ride.
  • 9/26 - Pancake Breakfast and Mt. Washington Made Craft Fair

We would like to wish all of our families celebrating Rosh Hashanah a very happy new year.  May it be filled with love, joy and family.  Have a fun and safe day off on Monday.

  • Friday (9/18) from 8:00 to 12:00 is our Mexican Celebration.  Please notify your teacher or room rep if you can join us.
