Week 11 (10/26/15 - 10/30/2015)

Class Updates:
  • There is a spelling test this week.
  • Halloween Parade is this Friday @1:15 pm.  Bring your clothes/costume in a large shopping bag.  Students will change after lunch in our classrooms.  Parents can help their child dress at 1:00 in the classroom.

Dates to keep in mind:

  • 10/30 - Halloween Parade at 1:15 pm
  • 11/6 - Native-American Celebration
  • 10/19 - 3rd Young Author Report Due (CLICK HERE to see the Young Author's Report Schedule).  Read about a Native American folktale or legend.  Rewrite the story in your own words.  Make a stick puppet to use when you retell the story to the class.  Practice telling the story at home before you share it at school.  If any materials are needed, please tell your teacher ahead of time.

Week 9 (10/12/15 - 10/16/15)

Class Updates:

  • There is a spelling test this week.
  • We still need an emergency kit for every child.  Please send yours in ASAP if you have not done so already.
  • This Friday (10/16) is our African-American Celebration.

  • 10/16 - African-American Celebration
  • 10/19 - 2nd Young Author Report Due (CLICK HERE to see the Young Author's Report Schedule).  Read about an African-American person who has made a difference.  This person could be an activist, inventor, artist, politician, etc.  Share in writing what you have learned about the person and tell why he/she is important.  AND/OR Visit the California African Museum www.caam.ca.gov.  Write about your experience.
  • 10/22 - 2nd Grade Fundraiser @ Central Park in Pasadena.  Save the date!
  • 10/24 - Festival of the Howling Wolves!

Week 8 (10/5/15 - 10/9/15)

Class Notes:

PICTURE DAY is this Thursday (10/8). 

There will be a spelling test and reading test this week.

Be sure to turn in your September reading calendar. It is part of your child's grade.  If you need the September calendar, you can access it by CLICKING HERE.

African-American report is DUE on October 19, 2015.   Read about an African-American person who has made a difference.  This person could be an activist, inventor, artist, politician, etc.  Share in writing what you have learned about the person and tell why he/she is important.  AND/OR Visit the California African Museum www.caam.ca.gov.  Write about your experience.
